After the Game by Abbi Glines ARC Review

After the Game by Abbi Glines follows a girl, Riley Young, who was raped and accused of faking it. She fled Alabama but came back for her family and now her new born daughter.

When town golden boy Brady Higgins finds Riley and her daughter walking in the rain, he pulls over and gives them a ride-not because he cares for Riley, but because of the kid.

But after that simple car ride, he begins to question everything he thought he knew. Could Brady believe Riley and risk losing everything?

So since this is an ARC review, I can't say much but I will say that this book had...problems.

I see a major trend in Abbi Glines' books and basically the trend is that there are these super nice weak girls with super soft heart and super modest and THEN

there are those super hot guys with this tough bad boy exterior but has a soft inside and a really sad backstory that makes the girl fall even harder for them...

Ummm...apparently this is a popular trope? I read four abbi glines books and every single one of them followed this line of characters and sure, these types are books are fun sometimes but after a while they just start getting boring.

No different with this one.

This book is honestly a joke because there is no character development, no unique writing, story and to make things even worse, they basically fall in love at first sight. This book was so sugar coated and rushed and cheesy. Like honestly...ugh.

Plus the main character, Riley, gets raped. (This isn't a spoiler it literally states this on the back of the book) but this book didn't really discuss how she over came that and that was also a huge issue for me because one does not just come out of rape and be perfectly fine. Yeah this book did touch on the fact on how hard her life has been but the writing portrayed here is nothing remotely similar to what actual rape would feel like and to me that was a real downer.

Sure the main guy character was swoony and all but that wasn't enough to sway me away from the terrible characters, plot and ending. I rate this book a 2.5 stars out of 5. I honestly just picked this up because I was kind of in a reading slump and I just needed something quick to read. I would only recommend this to you if you need a super quick and meaningless read. I might not even recommend this to you then.

Well, that was my review! I don't do negative reviews that often so this was new;)

Thanks for reading!
