Torn by Jennifer L. Armentrout Review

Torn by Jennifer L. Armentrout is the sequel to WICKED which came out last year. If you haven't checked out Wicked yet, you can do so by clicking here-Wicked

For those of you who haven't read Wicked or Torn yet, you MUST DO SO NOW!!! This series is fantastic and action packed! To be honest, I was kind of iffy about starting this series just because I'm not a huge fan of the covers...I mean, come on... but don't let that bother you! Two years ago, I decided to pick up Wicked, ignoring the cover and I am so glad that I did because this series is just FREAKING KICK ASS! I know the covers make it look like some sappy romance story but trust me it isn't. It's about kick ass humans who kick some Fae butt and OML I LOVE IT!

I rate Wicked and Torn both 5/5 stars! I read both of them in one day and I would read them all over again!

Now, for the spoiler review!

Okay, so the book pretty much started where it left off.

Ivy is the Halfling which is super inconvenient since Ren is in New Orleans just to kill the Halfling.

1. Ivy being the Halfling was honestly so unexpected and surprising for me. I just totally didn't see that coming! I know we were introduced to this in the ending of the first book but like ivy, I needed time to soak in this information as well.

2. Things aren't looking so bright for Ivy now because the freaking Prince of faeries of whatever wants to impregnate her and make an "apocalypse baby" with her so he can open the gates that could destroy mankind. The prince freaking scared the LIVING HELL OUT OF ME!!! I mean, he could track Ivy wherever she went and he seriously just popped out of nowhere and acted like a total perverted creep! NOT COOL.

3. REN. HOLY SMOKES REN. I love the relationship that Ren and Ivy had. Yes, it was sexy and blah blah blah but beyond that. They cared so much for each other and I could really see that Ivy loved him. Like loved him more than she loved herself when she made a deal with the prince just for him. THE FEELS! And of course, you can't really go wrong with Ren;)

4. I freaking loved Tink in this book! I loved Tink in the first book as well but in this book I could really see his character development! I was so surprised when I found out he could turn himself in to a full grown man! And the fact that Ivy thought he was hot just cracked me up! Oh, Tink... I also really liked how even when tin and Ren bantered throughout the whole book, they still somewhat formed a brotherly connection and Tink helped Ren at the end and vice versa! #BROMANCE

5. Okay, so when The prince captured Ren after Ivy told Ren that she was the Halfling AND that she loved him, he turned himself to look EXACTLY LIKE REN!!! OMG the Prince even got me fooled because I truly believed it was Ren! I mean, I guess I was a bit suspicious but after a few pages I was fooled. The moment Ivy found out and the moment I found out...the prince scared the hell out of me.

6. Ivy being captured with the Prince was so messed up! She made a deal with the prince that broke my heart and it was so painful to see her suffering and sacrificing herself for Ren while questioning his loyalty to her at time to time because she was a Halfling! Oh, and also that freaking B**** Breena was messing with Ivy's head! DIE BREENA. DIE!

7. So, apparently in this book we find out that not all fae are messed up and crazy! They are the "nice fae" and we get introduced to this idea at the beginning of the book and it really played out well when Feya was helping Ivy Escape!

8. THE IVY AND REN REUNION!!! It was so heartbreaking and sweet and they are seriously like one of my strongest OTPs ever!!! I loved how Ren was so supportive of her and accepted who Ivy was because he loved her! I also loved how they finally both confessed to loving each other at the end of the book because it was very clear that they both loved each other from the very beginning of this book and that they've been wanting to say it to each other for a long time!

I think that summarizes my general feelings about this book! Of course there is still much more to say but that would take up WAYY too much space and hurt my hands and keyboard:) haha. Once again, I rate this book a solid 5/5 stars! Jennifer L. Armentrout never disappoints! Go read Wicked and Torn now!

Met the Author: Marie Lu, Renee Ahdieh, Alwyn Hamilton and Romina Russell

Hi guys! So yesterday, I got to meet the fantastic authors: Marie Lu, author of the Legend series and the Young Elites, Renee Ahdieh, the author of The Wrath and the Dawn series, Alwyn Hamilton, the author of the Rebel of the sands and Romina Russell the author of Zodiac!

So, this event was very conveniently located at my local bookstore which is only like five minutes away from where I live! So of course I had to go! I really liked independent bookstore events more than Barnes and Noble Events just because you can have a more personal interaction with the authors and there aren't as many people at the event. Yesterday there was only like thirty to forty people and a few months ago when I met Marie Lu at the LA Times there were over three hundred!

You get my point.

I met Marie Lu once like I've said but I could only get one book signed by her so I BROUGHT ALL OF MY BOOKS from her and from the other authors as well!

The book event was so fun and the authors were just so cool and chill! I absolutely loved each and every one of them because they answered everybody's questions with thought and sincerity. It was also super fun because we of course talked about Harry Potter and our book boyfriends and all that girlie jazz:)

AND NOW! It was time for the signing! As soon as the discussion was over, I rushed out to the signing line and luckily I was the tenth person in line! Woo hoo! I call that SUCESS!

All of the authors were so nice and they signed all of my books which was AMAZING! Since I had a lot. This is also another reason why I like independent bookstore events more because at big events hosted at Barnes and Noble, they only let you bring one or two books. Three if many. But at events like these, you can bring as many books as you'd like they will sign it all for you!

All of them were so nice and they were like ARE YOU NAMED AFTER AUDREY HEPBURN? and I'm just like "uh...sure" and we all laughed:) haha. They were just so fun and nice and while I had only read Marie Lu and Renee Ahdieh's books, I have heard a lot of great things about Zodiac and The Rebel of the Sands so I was equally excited to meet them as well! They also had a lot of swag so Yay!!!

This event is an event that I will remember and love because it was just so great! I loved meeting all the authors and it was just a great experience! I also got an extra copy signed by Renee Ahdieh so a giveaway should be coming up soon;)

Thank you guys for reading my Met the Author Post!

The Shadow Queen by C.J Redwine

The Shadow Queen by C.J Redwine is a fascinating and compelling retelling of the fairytale Snow White. It is about Lorelai Diederich, crown princess and fugitive at large who has one mission: kill the wicked queen who took both the Ravenspire throne and the life of her father. To do that, Lorelai needs to use the one weapon she and Queen Irina have in common—magic. She'll have to be stronger, faster, and more powerful than Irina, the most dangerous sorceress Ravenspire has ever seen.In the neighboring kingdom of Eldr, when Prince Kol's father and older brother are killed by an invading army of magic-wielding ogres, the second-born prince is suddenly given the responsibility of saving his kingdom. To do that, Kol needs magic of his own—and the only way to get it is to make a deal with the queen of Ravenspire, promise to become her personal huntsman—and bring her Lorelai's heart.

This book was everything I looked and hoped for in a retelling! Ever since I finished The Lunar Chronicles last year, I had trouble finding a good YA retelling! I went in to this book but not with super high expectations.

I was happily surprised.

This story is dynamic and such a unique twist on the original fairytale! The world was so intricate and well layered out that I just wanted to learn more and more about it! I loved and hated all characters and I LOVED THAT FACT because a great book is supposed to make you feel things and I definitely felt a lot of things reading this book. Character relationships were also very well thought out and gradual which I liked because I absolutely instant love (yuck)

The book did have some points here and there where I was like WHAT? Like, a few bits here and there were jumbled and for a spilt second at times I was confused but the writing quickly recovered and I was happily engrossed in the book again. I read this book in seven hours today as a part of the booktubeathon and I am so glad that I picked it up!

I give this book a solid five out of five stars! This book was a great read for me and if you love retellings as much as I do, you will adore this book!

Zenith: the Androma Saga Part 1 by Sasha Alsberg and Lindsay Cummings Part 1

Most know Androma Racella as the Bloody Baroness: a powerful mercenary whose reign of terror stretches across the Mirabel Galaxy. To those aboard her fearsome glass starship the Maurader, she’s just Andi, their captain and protector.

When a routine mission goes awry, the all-girl crew’s resilience is tested as they find themselves in a most unfamiliar place: at the mercy of a sadistic bounty hunter connected to Andi’s past and a harrowing betrayal.

Meanwhile, on the far side of the galaxy, a ruthless ruler waits in the shadows of the planet Xen Ptera, biding her time to exact revenge for the destruction of her people. The final pieces of her deadly plan are about to fall into place, unleashing a plot that will tear Mirabel in two.

Andi and her crew embark on a dangerous, soul-testing journey that could restore order to their ship—or just as easily start a war that will devour worlds. As the Marauder hurtles towards the unknown, and Mirabel hangs in the balance, the only thing certain is that in a galaxy run on lies and illusion, no one can be trusted.

From internet sensation Sasha Alsberg and author Lindsay Cummings comes a new serialized space opera, full of action, fantastical intrigue, and steamy star-crossed romance. -Amazon

Okay, so I suck at writing summaries, but I suck even more at writing summaries for Sci-Fi summaries so the summary above is from Amazon.

So, I have been an avid follower of Sasha Alsberg's youtube channel for three years and I have really liked Lindsay's book The Murder Complex so I had high hopes for this book. The again, I was worried that this book was hyped just because a famous youtuber had written the book. Because, from my experience, boktuber books are honestly not the best.

But I was happily surprised!

The book starts out fast and rushes right in to the story. A bunch of words and terms are thrown at you and you will be like WHAT IS HAPPENING? but gladly that is only for a while! The authors gradually sweep you in their Sci-fi world and all of a sudden, everything makes sense!

The story is quite short since it is only Part 1 so I can't say much about the characters but I really like Androma and Dex so far! There is so much that hasn't been revealed yet but I am so excited to see where this goes! The book left in a cliffhanger and I AM DYING FOR MORE! I was so eagerly turning the pages and when it stopped I was like AHHHHH!!!

This book is amazing guys. I cannot wait for Part 2 to come out! I NEED IT IN MY LIFE! I rate this book a solid 5/5. I thought it was great and it was a relatively short read so you should definitely give it a try!!! I hoped you guys liked this review and thanks for readiny this post!

LumberJanes Graphic Novel Review

Hi guys! Today I will be doing my very first Graphic Novel review! I don't read Graphic novels that often to be honest but I am really glad I picked this one up! The story is basically about the girl scouts The Lumberjanes, their adventures in the woods and discovering life lessons about love and friendship.

Okay, so that summary was really cheesy, but that's really all I can say about it! The plot is seriously super simple but the artwork is amazing and the humor in this novel just made me laugh out loud! I loved Noelle Stevenson's (One of the authors of the Lumberjanes) graphic novel NIMONA so I was really excited and pumped to get in to this one and I was not disappointed!

The life lessons in this book was great and this graphic novel is certainly not just for children! I think people of all ages will love this story and fall in love with the characters! And the artwork is again, BEAUTIFUL!

So, I rate this book a good 5/5 stars! I will definitely be picking up the next books in the series! What is your favorite graphic novel?

The Lovely Reckless by Kami Garcia ARC Review

This review will be spoiler free for it is a review of an ARC*

The Lovely Reckless by Kami Garcia is about Frankie, rich girl from the good town Heights who just saw her boyfriend get murdered. She moves in with her undercover cop dad to a new town and transfers to a public high school in the Downs where fistfights don't faze anyone and illegal street racing is more popular than football. There she meets Marco Leone and it is impossible for Frankie to ignore him. But the risks Marco takes for his family could have consequences for them both. Will Frankie let the pain of her past determine her future? Or will she risk what little she has left to follow her heart?

So...THIS BOOK!

This book hasn't released yet so I can't say much about it because I'm afraid I might spoil it but I just have to say, this book is a winner.

So, Personally, when it comes to contemporary, I'm more of a fuzzy rainbow romance type of a person. So, gradually when I read contemporary romance, the setting is light and there is drama and all that cliché stuff that everybody claims to hate but secretly love. That's the kind of stuff that I'm in to. But this book was totally opposite of that. This book was a romance novel but it was dark, gritty and sometimes it was a bit depressing so I had to put it down.

But obviously I didn't out it down for long. This book deals with serious issues that sadly a lot of people go through these days and Kami Garcia didn't sugar coat any of it. Reading this novel, I felt as hopeless as the characters in this novel did. Did I relate to this book on a personal level? Thank god no. But I still felt for the characters and I felt as if I was living throughout this story with these characters which shows how amazing Kami Garcia is.

Plus, THE ROMNANCE WAS LEGIT TO DIE FOR!!! Marco Leone=SWOON...why can't real boys be like boys in books? (sighs)

That's about all I can say about this book! I thought this book was a great and emotional read and I am definitely going to be checking out Kami Garcia's other books! Make sure to check out The Lovely Reckless by Kami Garcia on OCTOBER 9th! Hope you enjoyed this review and thanks for reading my review!

How to read more when you are busy and struggling to sleep

Is this you these days? Because...well, that's me these days. I know Summer is the ultimate time to get your reading glasses on and cozy up in bed but that hasn't happened so far for me. Not because I
'm in a reading slump, but because I'VE BEEN SO BUSY. Like no joke. I'm so tired and busy these days the first thing I think about when I get home is SLEEP!

So I read like two books these summer which is really bad for me because I usually finish like at least 2-4 books a week. THIS IS BAD. So, I've decided to manage my time and it really helped! Here are some tips to as what you should read during busy hours, How to deal with a busy schedule and how not to get a reading slump from all this.

1. CHOOSE A FUN EASY READ: So during the summer, as a huge fantasy fan, I picked up a lot of fantasy and dystopian but I had to put them down. Not because they were bad but because since I had so little reading time, I kept forgetting what the story was about after a few days. So, PICK UP SOME CONTEMPORARY! This helped me a lot, believe it or not and I've been reading so much more! Summer is the perfect time for contemporary anyways so it's a win win!

2. DON'T PRESSURE YOURSELF: As a book blogger, I do sometimes have pressure to read faster and get my reviews up quick just so people could quickly read them and also because it helps keep my blog going and keeps my followers intact. However, if you keep stressing yourself over how many pages you read in a day and etc. You won't have any time to read, like at all! (HANGS HEAD IN SHAME)

3.IT'S GOOD TO EXPLORE NEW GENRES AND ALL BUT...:It's good to get out of your reading comfort zone and try new books. Try some indie authors too. But if you really don't have much time to read and the reading slump is taking over, then you need to step back down and get back in your reading comfort zone. Trust me, books and genres that don't interest you will tend to make your reading longer and if you read books you like more, then you'll probably get through them quicker.

4.CUT DOWN ON NETFLIX:I know turning as page in a book is kind of hard work and all you want to do is watch some TV, you need to STOP AND THINK. Because as soon as you press that button on your tablet for Netflix, bye bye three hours of reading.

Those are my tips for my busy bookworms this summer! I hope you enjoyed this and I hope this was helpful to you all! Read on!
